Tour de Suisse · Duanwu Festival

On one summer day in Bad Ragaz, two very different traditions unfolded side by side.
Outside, the streets were filled with excitement as Tour de Suisse brought world-class cyclists through our Alpine town. Spectators gathered along the route, celebrating one of Switzerland's most iconic sporting events.
Inside our home, the atmosphere was peaceful.
The aroma of freshly prepared zongzi filled the air. Tea was served quietly, and the gentle sound of the guqin accompanied our family's celebration of the Duanwu Festival, one of China's oldest traditional festivals.
Two different rhythms.
One celebrates movement and speed.
The other invites stillness and reflection.
Yet they are not opposites.
Both honour dedication, tradition, and the shared human desire to live with purpose.
Living in Switzerland has taught us that cultural exchange does not happen only through exhibitions, conferences, or performances. More often, it happens in everyday life, when different traditions naturally coexist and enrich one another.

On this day, beneath the same Alpine sky, an international cycling race and an ancient Chinese festival became part of the same story.
Not because they were connected, but because they were both expressions of humanity.
At IAK Switzerland, this is the kind of cultural dialogue we hope to encourage—not by comparing cultures, but by allowing each tradition to speak in its own voice while finding common ground in our shared human experience.
West Meets East. Ancient Meets Modern.
