How does an educational philosophy become a living academy?
This article traces the development of the IAK Digital Academy from Rheintal Cottage to the Three Schools, showing how years of reading, teaching, cultural exchange, and lived experience gradually formed its educational framework.

从莱茵谷居，到三大学堂
IAK数字书院教育框架的形成
Every academy begins with a place for learning.
The IAK Digital Academy did not begin with a campus or a predefined educational framework. It began with everyday life.
For many years, Rheintal Cottage became a place for reading, writing, reflection, dialogue, and cultural exchange. Friends, students, and visitors gathered there to study the Chinese classics, share ideas, and explore different ways of learning together.
As one step naturally led to another, different areas of learning gradually emerged. Classical studies, life cultivation, and traditional arts were never planned as separate schools from the beginning. They grew naturally through years of study, teaching, cultural exchange, and lived experience.
This gradual journey eventually gave rise to the Three Schools of the IAK Digital Academy: the School of Wisdom, the School of Life Cultivation, and Ruiya Qintang – the School of Aesthetics.
Together, they form an integrated educational framework that brings classical wisdom into contemporary life while encouraging lifelong learning, intercultural understanding, and personal cultivation.
每一座书院，都始于一个学习的地方。
IAK数字书院，并不是从一座校园开始，也不是从一套预先设计好的教育体系开始，而是从真实的生活开始。
多年来，**莱茵谷居（Rheintal Cottage）**逐渐成为阅读、写作、思考、交流与文化实践的空间。朋友、学生以及来自不同国家的访客，在这里共同阅读中国经典，分享思想，也一起探索跨文化学习的可能。
随着一步又一步的实践，不同的学习方向自然形成。经典智慧、生命修养与传统艺术，并不是预先规划出来的三个学堂，而是在长期学习、教学、文化交流与生活实践中逐渐成长。
最终，这一过程发展成为今天IAK数字书院的三大学堂：智慧堂、修身堂与瑞雅琴堂（美学堂）。
三大学堂彼此相辅相成，共同构成了IAK数字书院的教育框架，将经典智慧融入当代生活，鼓励终身学习、跨文化理解与人格成长。
IAK Academy of Wisdom
School of Wisdom
The School of Wisdom was the first to take shape.
Long before the IAK Digital Academy was established, years of reading, research, translation, writing, and intercultural dialogue had already laid its foundation.
The Chinese classics, together with the wisdom traditions of different civilisations, gradually became the centre of lifelong study. As more materials were collected, translated, edited, and shared, this work naturally developed into what is today the School of Wisdom.
Today, the School of Wisdom is dedicated to classical studies, intercultural dialogue, and the enduring wisdom of human civilisation.
Through reading, research, translation, writing, and discussion, it encourages independent thinking, lifelong learning, and deeper understanding between Eastern and Western intellectual traditions.

早在IAK数字书院建立之前，多年的阅读、研究、翻译、写作与跨文化交流，便已经奠定了它的基础。
中国经典以及世界不同文明的智慧传统，逐渐成为长期学习的核心。随着越来越多的资料得到整理、翻译、编辑与分享，这些工作自然发展成为今天的智慧堂。
今天，智慧堂致力于经典研究、跨文化对话，以及世界文明智慧的持续探索。
通过阅读、研究、翻译、写作与交流，鼓励独立思考、终身学习，以及对东西方思想传统更深入的理解。

School of Life Cultivation
The School of Life Cultivation also grew naturally through years of educational practice.
Traditional Chinese education has always regarded learning as inseparable from daily life. Reading, self-cultivation, health practices, travel, dialogue, and close observation of nature gradually became part of one continuous educational journey.
Inspired by the educational philosophy of the Chinese classics, the School of Life Cultivation encourages harmony between body, mind, nature, and society.
Rather than focusing only on knowledge, it seeks to cultivate character, responsibility, healthy living, and lifelong personal growth.

IAK修身堂
修身堂同样是在长期教育实践中自然形成的。
中国传统教育始终认为，学习与生活不可分离。阅读、修身、养生、旅行、交流以及对自然的观察，共同构成了一条持续不断的学习道路。
修身堂以中国经典的教育思想为基础，结合当代健康生活理念，引导人与自己、他人、自然及社会建立更加和谐的关系。
它不仅关注知识的学习，更关注品格、责任、健康生活与终身成长。

IAK Academy of Aesthetics
Ruiya Qintang · School of Aesthetics
The School of Aesthetics represents another important stage in the development of the IAK Digital Academy.
The story of Ruiya Qintang is also part of my own life journey.
I grew up in a family deeply rooted in Chinese artistic traditions. My father was a landscape oil painter, and my mother was a vocal music teacher. From an early age, I learned painting and calligraphy, while music became a natural part of everyday life. Our family also preserved an ancestral Guqin. Looking back, the traditional Four Arts of the Chinese literati—the Guqin, Weiqi (Go), calligraphy, and painting—had always been closely connected with my life. The only missing piece was learning to play the Guqin.
Many years later, I began studying the Guqin in Switzerland under Shen Qin of the Yushan tradition. With the Guqin, my lifelong journey through the Four Arts of the Chinese literati finally became complete.
Over the following years, I returned to Chengdu, where I formally became a student of Master Tang Zhongliu and later continued studying the Shu School of Guqin under Zhao Hong.
When the name of the Guqin academy was being decided, I proposed the name Ruiya Qintang. Master Tang Zhongliu considered it a beautiful and fitting name, and it was subsequently adopted as the official name.
Looking back, Ruiya Qintang did not appear suddenly. It grew naturally from a lifetime shaped by family, education, teachers, and the continuous transmission of Chinese culture.
Today, Ruiya Qintang serves as the School of Aesthetics of the IAK Digital Academy.
Rooted in the classical tradition of rites and music (Lǐ Yuè 礼乐), it takes the Four Arts of the Chinese literati as an important cultural inspiration, encouraging aesthetic appreciation, creativity, cultural refinement, and harmony in everyday life.

IAK美学堂 - 瑞雅琴堂
美学堂的发展，是 IAK 数字书院教育实践中的另一重要阶段。
瑞雅琴堂的发展，也是我人生经历的一部分。
我成长于书香传统的家庭。父亲是一位风景油画家，母亲是一位声乐教师。从小学习绘画、书法，也在音乐的陪伴中长大。家中还珍藏着祖传古琴。回首过去，中国传统文人的琴、棋、书、画，其实一直伴随着我的成长，唯一缺少的，是亲自学习古琴演奏。
多年以后，我在瑞士跟随古琴虞山派沈沁老师学习古琴。至此，我一生学习文人四艺的旅程终于完整。
此后的几年间，我回到成都，正式拜古琴泰斗唐中六先生为师学习琴学，并在唐老师安排下继续跟随蜀派古琴非遗传承人赵虹老师学习蜀派古琴。
在为古琴学堂命名时，我提出了“瑞雅琴堂”这个名字，请唐中六老师认可了这个名字合适而贴切，因此正式采用为学堂名称。
回过头来看，瑞雅琴堂并不是突然出现的，而是在家庭的熏陶、艺术的学习、师长的教导，以及中华文化持续传承的共同影响下，自然而然形成的一座美学堂。
今天，瑞雅琴堂作为 IAK 数字书院的美学堂，植根于中国传统礼乐文化，以文人琴、棋、书、画四艺为重要文化基础，引导不同文化背景的人们共同体验东方美学，培养审美能力、文化修养、创造力，以及和谐的生活方式。

The Three Schools were not created all at once. They emerged naturally through years of reading, teaching, cultural exchange, artistic practice, and lived experience.
Together, they provide the educational framework of the IAK Digital Academy.
